L'Oreal Infallible Stay Fresh Foundation Review

I've decided that it's time for another installment of Product of the Week! This is a series I enjoy and it doesn't make sense why I don't update it more often. This week I am focusing on a foundation from L'Oreal and it's called the Infallible Stay Fresh foundation.

I'm constantly on the hunt for a foundation that 1) matches my skin tone 2) applies well and looks good on the skin and 3) doesn't wear off during the day. I was hoping I would find these features in L'Oreal's Infallible Stay Fresh Foundation.

The first thing I noticed about this product was it has an extremely perfumed scent. By "extremely perfumed" I don't just mean the typical foundation scent - I mean that it smells like a perfume that might be marketed at middle-aged women. I don't mind the scent and the fragrance fades as soon as you apply it to your face.

When testing this product, I primed my face with the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Primer. Upon application, this foundation is relatively light to medium coverage. It applies very smoothly and blends seamlessly.

The shade 015 matches my skin really well. It evens my skin tone and nulls the redness in my skin. I do however have some spots (due to all the chocolate at Christmas) that were not concealed very well. This isn't a problem for me since I usually don't get spots and they were easily covered with some concealer.

This foundation is great for people with oily skin as even on the oiliest parts of my face it doesn't look cakey.

Throughout the day, it wore quite well but I noticed that it faded on my nose and seemed to hang in clumps there. It didn't oxidise at all and the shade was the same at 9.30 pm as it was at 9.30 am. In case you're wondering, I didn't reapply makeup throughout the day on the day when I tested it.

Overall, I was pleased with this product. I would not recommend it to people with dry skin as it would cling to dry parts of the face. It applies well and gives a medium but buildable coverage. It isn't very long lasting and a primer is vital. It looks natural on the skin and not at all cakey.

Despite the shortcomings, I reach for this foundation for day-to-day use.

Update! Moving Out, Moving On

I've taken a step away from the madness of packing up an entire house to write this post. This is sadly, the last post from this little, old boxroom (hopefully, at least!). I've spent the last seven or eight years of my life in this room and it hasn't really changed since I moved in here.

Having said that, I'm not actually moving away. In fact we're just getting a fab new extension! We'll be back in 12 weeks but then I'll be moving into a new room.

It may not seem like a big deal but to me this is another step in this little blog's existence. I've blogged in this room for three years and it is the the only way I have ever known.

We'll be moving in with my granny for the twelve weeks and it is likely that there will be no wifi (ahhhhh!). Regardless of this, I will do my very best to upload a post at least once a week. If you don't hear from me for a couple of weeks I do apologise but, as I said, I will do my very best to get posts up each week.

Other than getting to see my granny every day, there's the main bonus of being mere minutes away from my favourite shopping centre. I have no doubt that I will spend many a happy hour down there adding products to my MAC Wishlist.

I've loaded up all my makeup into three big boxes (I never realised how much of it I have!)
I'm really looking forward to the new extension and I look forward to getting back to blogging after the build.

If you have any requests for future posts, leave a comment and I'll get back to you. I'm sorry about this unstructured, mish-mash post but I needed to fill you in.
I'll be back next Friday with another post.

Talk to you soon!

Daytime Occasion Makeup Look | Collab with Chloe, xo | Ad

Today's post is a collaboration with the amazing Chloe from Chloe, xo.
If you have not seen and read her blog I urge you to head over and check it out. Her makeup skills are unbelievable.

We are doing a day and night look. The night look will be on Chloe's blog and I will be doing the day look.

The products in this post marked with an * were sent to me by W7. You can find their website here.

My look would be suitable for a daytime occasion such as a family lunch or a birthday party.

Instead of a primer, today I used the Simple Kind To Skin Moisturiser. I applied it with my fingers.

I used my Real Techniques Makeup Sponge to apply the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation. I applied it with a bouncing motion for an airbrushed finish.

I used the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer under my eyes and blended it with the pointed end of my Real Techniques .

I mattified my face with the Collection Lasting Perfection Face Powder. To apply this I used the Makeup Revolution F104 brush.

To contour my face I used the NYX Blush in the shade Taupe. I applied it with the Makeup Revolution F103 brush.

On my cheek bones, nose and cupids bow I applied the Benefit High Beam highlighter. I dotted it around my face and blended it with my fingertips.

For blush, I used the NYX Blush in the shade Pinched. I applied it with the Real Techniques Multi Face Brush.

I filled in my brows with the Makeup Revolution Ultra Brow Arch and Shape eyebrow wax and felt tip. I set it with a coat of the W7 The Queen of Brows Brow Mascara*.

I primed my eyelids with the MAC Pro Longwear Paintpot in the shade Painterly using my fingers.

From the W7 In The Buff palette I put the shade Venice all over my lid.
I blended the taupe shade called Wink, from the same palette, through my crease with the Essence Eye Blending eyeshadow brush.

I, then, added a relatively thin line across my upper lash line with the Miss Sporty eyeliner and gave it a short wing.

I curled my lashes with the Paul's Boutique Eyelash Curler and coated my lashes with the W7 Lashtastic* mascara.

On my lips, I put the W7 Viva La Berry* lipstick in the shade Berry Nice .

Here's the completed look!

I hope you enjoyed this post and if you haven't already, go over and read Chloe's post. I have no doubt that it will be brilliant!

Benefits of Having Short Hair | Pale and Interesting

Just the other day, I was watching a video by Ella Snyder titled "How to Love Your Short Hair!". I was inspired to spread the message so here is my little input.

Until last year I had chest-length hair. My hair is very very thick and it was a nightmare to wash and maintain. When I was younger up until the age of about ten, I had a chin-length bob.

My hair at the moment is at a short-medium length and just reaches my shoulders. I have every intention of getting it cut shorter as I love the look of a messy bob!

The first reason I love my short hair is because it's so easy to keep it looking well. A lot less shampoo is needed to wash short hair and it takes a couple of minutes to wash. Let's not forget that it takes a fraction of the time to dry!

Long, thick hair in summer is an absolute nightmare. My hair was so thick that I couldn't put it in a bun. This meant that I constantly had sweaty hair stuck to the back of my neck. Short hair is so much lighter and it makes one feel freer!

Short hair is soooo classy! Look at the likes of Taylor Swift and Lily Collins and tell me they don't look hella classy. Having my short hair down just makes me feel vogue. (Trying to incorporate the word "vogue" into my everyday life.)

With short hair you can pull off styles that would have been beyond the realms of possibility before (they look better on short hair at least). This might not be the case with people with thinner hair but from experience as a thick haired gal I find that you can do so much more with short thick hair.

Let's be real, that half up bun thing looks better on short haired people and that look is so in right now.

Short hair, for me, marked a certain stage in my life when I gained some maturity and I think that short hair does demonstrate maturity.

Sometimes I do wish that I had my gorgeous, flowing locks back but then I remember how I can rock the heck out of that half-up-bun!

As Ella said in her video, if you are considering getting the chop, just do it! What's the worst that can happen? If you don't like it you can simply grow it out!

And in you have particularly long hair you can arrange to donate your hair to a charity that makes wigs for those who have lost their hair as a result of chemotherapy.

If styled correctly, short hair can suit everybody!

These are just a few of the many benefits of having short hair!
I hope you will reconsider making the change!

How to Be Organised on Your Blog and Avoid Blogger's Block

It's common for bloggers to lack in inspiration. Sometimes, it seems like there is nothing left for me to write about. When I find myself going through a period like this I like to follow these simple steps and soon I am bursting with ideas.

Here are my top tips for beating blogger's block and staying organized.

Plan Your Posts
This tip is so important to me. When I'm not organised I stress out and lose sight of my goal. I keep a journal where I plan my posts for the next few months. I don't necessarily write out my post until a week or two before it goes up but I do make sure I have a plan.

Have a Blogging Day
Every two weeks, or so, I dedicate a whole day to my blog. In the morning, while the lighting is good, I take all the pictures that I will need for the upcoming weeks' posts. In the afternoon  I write, write, write. I prepare four or five posts so that I don't have to worry about being busy and not being able to write something.

Jot Ideas Down
Most of the time, my ideas for blogposts come to me right before I fall asleep. I usually have to get up and scribble down my idea because if I don't I wont remember it! This is why I keep a small, pocket-sized notebook at my bed-side and in my handbag at all times. Often, ideas come to me at the strangest of times!

Set Goals
Each time I reach a milestone on my blog I reward myself with a little treat. If you are being rewarded by your blog it will motivate you to work more. Acknowledging your own successes makes you feel good about yourself and you'll only want to better yourself. Having said this, don't focus too much on the numbers because if you're not achieving what you hoped, it will only make you feel worse.

Have a Journal
My black and gold journal holds everything regarding my blog. I document monthly stats, write lists of blog post ideas and plan out future posts. In my opinion, a journal is a must-have for bloggers. Having everything written out in one place makes everything seem so much clearer. If I ever lost it I don't know what I'd do!

Those are my tips for Blog Organisation. I hope they helped!

Goals For 2016

This is inspired by Róisín's (Totally Ró) post where she set herself a set goals to achieve over the year. At the end of 2015 she wrote a post showing which goals she had completed and which she hadn't. It was a great post and I urge you to go and read it.

She has given me her permission to use this idea for my own blog.

Here are my goals for 2016...

1. Drink 3 litres of water a day
2. Upload at least 4 posts each month.
3. Read 100 books
4. Become a more organised person.
5. Get into another quartet
6. Write more.
7. Reach 500 followers on one of my social media accounts.
8. Write to a pen pal.
9. Increase the number of pageviews each month on my blog
10. Get better at public speaking & debating

Those are my goals for 2016. At the end of the year I intend to revisit this post and let review the list to see which goals I stuck to (hopefully all of them).

Thanks for reading!
