The Body Shop Lightening Shade Adjusting Drops - THE PALE GIRL'S SAVIOR | Pale and Interesting

Am I excited to write this post or what?
First an introduction...
Hi, I'm Clare and I'm the creator of this blog, Pale and Interesting. I can very honestly say I am one of those things and I doubt anyone would contradict me. Yes, I am paler than milk, paper, bed linen and the paint on the walls in my bedroom all put together. That's a very slight exaggeration, but only very slight. Since I started wearing makeup I've noticed one big problem; there are no foundation shades for us pale gals! Until now I've gone out settling for two or three shades darker than my complexion, but I've had enough!

The Body Shop, a wonderful shop that I love to visit when my purse is full, have released what can only be described as a god-send. They have released a solution that, when added to your foundation, lightens it. Obviously you can alter the amount you use according to the amount you wish to lighten the foundation by.

It sounds strange but I never realised how dark my foundations were until I saw my correct shade. I use about 3-4 drops but apparently that's a lot. As I say, adapt the dosage according to your needs.

The scent is pleasant but quite strong and mightn't be to everyone's taste. The packaging is very pretty and sleek. I can only imagine it will be the subject of more than one Instagram post. As you well know, I'm very conscious of weight at the moment as I'm heading away to the USA. The glass packaging is quite heavy so I'll probably need to transfer it into a travel bottle.

There's no such thing as a tan with my complexion!

This is a brilliant product as it only alters the shade of your foundation. I found that the consistency and finish remain the same.

The 15ml bottle should last you a lifetime and if not it isn't too expensive. My logic is that thanks to this miracle worker, I'm getting use out of foundations that would have been thrown away otherwise.

I hear that it can be used for highlighting which is very exciting as matte highlighters have always been to dark for my complexion. I am willing to argue that this is the best thing since sliced bread!

Sleek Matte Me Liquid Lipsticks Review

The Sleek Matte Me Liquid Lipsticks are so hyped up at the moment! Everyone is talking about them and about how amazing they are. One shade in particular, Birthday Suit, never seems to be in stock because it's snapped up each time it's restocked. Recently Sleek added six new shades to the very successful range.

I picked up Birthday Suit a few weeks ago and fell in love with it. It's a gorgeous pinky brown nude shade. I brought it to the Gaeltacht last month and wore it to most of the ceilis. Each time I wore it I'd get at least one compliment! It's a beautiful nude shade. The applicator is inconvenient as it makes application slightly difficult and imprecise.

I picked up Bittersweet and Old Hollywood from the new release.
Bittersweet is a rosy toned pink shade. It's very similar to Birthday Suit but is lighter and has a pinkier tone. It is a perfect day-to-day shade. With the new collection, the only visible difference is that the old applicator has been replaced by a doe-foot applicator. This is very useful as it makes application a lot easier and more precise.

Old Hollywood is a deep, dark red shade. I bought it for the primary reason that it is soooo beautiful! I don't know how much use I'll get out of this shade but they are so inexpensive that I don't feel too guilty.  The one thing I have to say is that this shade is unforgiving when it comes to dry patches on your lips. It tends to accentuate dryness so be sure to exfoliate and moisturise your lips before applicable.

Overall this is a fantastic lip line and I would highly recommend it to everyone. These liquid lipsticks are do inexpensive and there's s shade for everyone.

My favourite of the three shades is Birthday Suit because the shade is so flattering on every skin tone.

If you try these out let me know!

Try-It Tuesday - Stila Colour Correcting Primer

Today is my last day in Ireland for three weeks. That's right, for the first time in my life, I'm leaving Europe and venturing off to America. I'll be visiting New York, Washington and North Carolina. I've decided to vlog New York and probably Washington. In total, I'll be gone for 20 days but I hope to post frequently over that duration.

Today I wanted to give you a review of the Stila Colour Correcting Primer. I've been using it for a couple of months now and have developed somewhat of an opinion on the product.

As you all know, I get really bad redness on my face. I will do anything to try and soothe it so when I heard about this 'miracle worker' I knew I had to put it to the test. It was on the slightly pricier side ( priced at around €30). I put faith in the primer and was greatly impressed.

Firstly, I love this packaging! There's something strangely mesmerizing about the swirling loops. This product didn't completely anull my redness but it made a brilliant attempt. My skin is often irritated by primers but this particular one didn't irritate it.

I was genuinely shocked at how well it corrected the redness in my skin. Although it didn't entirely deplete the redness, I saw amazing changed and was very impressed.

Unlike many primers I've tried in the past, this one didn't leech all of the moisture from my skin. In fact, it hydrated it and made my skin plump and supple.

I noticed that when I applied it, it made my skin look bright and alive. This is due to the fact that there is a lavender pigment in the primer, and lavender tones counteract dullness in the skin.
This is also the reason it worked so well on my red patches (aka everywhere) - the green pigment in it counteracts the redness.

Makeup is a lot easier to apply when using this primer as it creates a perfect base. Foundation and concealer sit much better on the skin and also last longer. I was very impressed to see that my flawless base lasted through the day without creasing or gathering in patches.

Overall, I love this primer and I am prepared to say that it is my favourite primer in all-time history. After all, anything that can beat this redness is a force to be reckoned with and holds a special place in my heart.

If you suffer from redness, or are just looking for a great primer, I would 100% recommend this product to you.

A Letter To My Younger Self | Pale and Interesting

How're you? I hope everyone's well!
Today, I've written a letter to my younger self. I want to keep the intro short so I'll start now.

Hi Clare,

How's life? I hope you're happy and having lots of fun. I'm writing to you from 2016!

How's the viola going? I know you're having a little trouble learning. Stick at it and it will get a lot easier and so much fun! Last year the orchestra went to Barcelona and the year before we went to Vienna. It's a time consuming hobby but you'll make so many friends.

I've got a little tip for school. When you've got a question, ask it! I know you're a little ball of nerves and you're afraid you'll look like an eejit but it's worth it! I started when I started secondary school and now I'm so comfortable doing it. I'd have little problem belting out a song in front of my class and thanks to my newfound confidence I wouldn't stop when the begging for mercy started.

I'm doing my very best not to scream out "TRY OUT FOR THE DEBATING TEAM!!!". Debating, Clare, will help you out so much. Your confidence levels will go through the roof. Soon you'll be the obnoxious Clare of 2016! Still not converted? Spoiler alert, Maeve gets a space on the team. Wouldn't it be awkward if Maeve got a space and you didn't?
The five other debaters and you will make an amazing team but also a very close knit family. Cherish those Tuesday and Thursday mornings when there was debating practice for the team before school. I often think of those mornings and miss them.

I have something to say about friends too.
I want to applaud you for making such good judgement on that first day of Junior Infants and choosing such a good best friend.
Even though you're not going to different secondary schools, you'll be closer than ever. Oh, and #triptotipps really do happen.
I know you're a bit worried because some people have been trying to steal that best friend of yours. Don't worry, they'll lose interest after a few weeks.
Finally, appreciate Maeve! She 's the best friend ever. Only recently did I realise that you have a very special friendship with her. So twins? You're very lucky to have her!

A girl posing as a friend is about to come into your life. She's actually very mean and will say some hurtful things. This wont be too much of a bother to you, though, because I know you have a thick skin. Take screenshots of the texts and then you can laugh it off with Maeve.

I'm going to leave it here. Have loads of fun and enjoy being a little one!
Write back!

Your favourite,
2016 Clare
